Character History: Many years before the Great War on Cybertron between the Autobots and the Decepticons flared, Skyfire was a scientist. Along with his friend and working partner, Starscream, he studied Planetary Science, while the latter focused on energy research.

Shortly before the final falling-out between the two factions of their home world, Skyfire and Starscream went on a mission to an uninhabited planet - Earth. After detecting no intelligent life on the surface, Skyfire insisted that they take a closer look. Reluctantly, Starscream followed. The two Cybertronain jets were caught up in a polar windstorm. Skyfire, separated from his comrade, was plunged beneath the ice, where he stayed for millions of years while the war raged on. Eventually, the Autobots and Decepticons brought their battle to Earth.

During one of their more bizarre schemes, the Decepticons traveled to the South Pole to drain Earth (once again) of energy. There they discovered Skyfire, still locked in his icy tomb. Starscream eagerly thawed his companion out. After an awkward exchange and induction into the Decepticon forces, Skyfire was caught up in something he didn’t care to understand, more interested in his studies than fighting a war that had little to do with him. However, he went along to please Starscream. When he expressed desire to protect humans and refused to destroy a group of Autobots, Starscream shot him and left him for dead.

Luckily for Skyfire, the Autobot medic, Ratchet, was able to repair him. Skyfire in turn declared his loyalty to the Autobots, though he still had a strong distaste for fighting. After a skirmish with Starscream, Skyfire made a last ditch attempt to stop the ‘Cons from draining Earth of its energy, in turn, ending up buried in ice. Again. The Autobots simply left him there, counting it as his grave.

Until they needed a ride. At which point they thawed him back out and he was forever the Autobot chauffeur for the rest of his part in the war, occasionally having run-ins with his old friend Starscream. For the most part, he was merely a mode of transport due to his flight capability and sheer size.

Character Personality: First and foremost, Skyfire is a scientist. Fascinated by planetary science and meteorology, the large Cybertronian jet would like nothing more than to indulge in furthering science and learning. For the most part, he prefers to remain a neutral party, with a strong distaste for violence. However, when push comes to shove, he can hold his own quite well (it’s rumored that he is actually the fastest of the Aerialbots on the Autobot forces.) He’s capable and responsible: reasonable fellow with strong morals and a relaxed attitude. He can also be incredibly dorky when left to his own devices. Likely due to his years spent alone in a lab or on the move exploring planets, the jet can often present himself as a bit socially slow, making bad puns, laughing at his own jokes and everything in between. He’s quite matter-of-fact when it comes to life, though, and when he’s called on in a crisis, he always delivers.

Amongst other things, Skyfire is a skeptic: a hardwired atheist, or agnostic at best. He refuses to believe in the Cybertronian ‘God’, called Primus, or Unicron (the robotic equivalent of the Devil). Although both blatantly exist, he turns a blind optic to it, demanding absolute proof before anything else. To him, there are no divine forces, only evolution, science and cold, hard, fact. It’s probably the only subject he can boarder on unreasonable about.
Otherwise, he’s probably one of the more agreeable faces as far as bots go. A loyal friend, a hard worker, good morals with a responsible, reasonable personality.

On the more serious side of things, Skyfire has developed a decent fear of large bodies of water, as well as arctic conditions. He prefers to avoid snowy weather at all costs to the point of holing up inside his own home and refusing to come out. It's a fear that stemmed from being locked under the ice for so long, being aware as he froze and went into stasis, only to wake up into a war. He has a strong sense of right and wrong, and has no qualms about doing what he views as "good", however he also has a very logical side that plays a large part of his decisions as well. He likes to have options, time to make decisions and a stable environment in which he can think. Obviously he's rarely if ever granted these blessings, so he's learned to think on his feet.

While he is first and foremost a scientist, he is not incapable of battle. A function that he had to assume after his sudden reintroduction to the world several millions of years after he fell into the arctic and froze. He made the transition from science to war, but nit very easily. He was always reluctant to fight, particularly when Starscream requests he attack a troop of unarmed Autobots. He refuses outright. He refuses to kill anyone. While he does have sharp aim with an energy rifle, it's really a moot point for him. He aims to wound or warn, if at all. Overall, if he can get away with wrestling someone into submission, he'd rather do it that way. Because of his sheer size, it's not difficult to overpower someone without harming them.

Powers: Uh. He can fly. Transform. All the basics of your basic shuttle. He also DUN GUD SCIENCE.

Samples
First person: [Guess who just got out of processing. He looks only vaguely impatient, not anywhere close to annoyed, though. This bot has the patience of a saint (though he'd resent that terminology) luckily.]

Well this is... something, alright.

[Understatement number one.]

I believe I'm a bit. A bit at a loss for words.

[Understatement number two.]

My name is Skyfire.

Let it be noted that my name is not, Jetfire, as seems to be a common mistake that has already cropped up several times in the past few megacycles.

I suppose It'd be rather brash of me to assume anyone I know is here, but if anyone would be helpful enough to... point me towards the library? I find I am in great need of some place quiet to get myself sorted.

Third Person: The datapads are a familiar weight in his hands, at the very least. He just selected a few to sit down with. He's not even sure if he really can focus enough to read right now, but for the sake of appearances, he has a small stack of them at the table he's occupying (dominating would be more like it). The whole setup is much too small for a mech his size, but the bigger tables had been occupied.

He stares into the translucent blue, the writing just scrolls right by him. No focus, as he thought.

What is he going to do now? It's... sadly. Not like he's really lost much. Hasn't much to go back to. As nice as the Autobots are to haven taken him in- he knew they didn't really trust him. Sure, maybe Perceptor, but he had a terrible bias. Starscream was a murderous psychopath. Sadly, now that he looks back on it, he should have seen it coming ten miles away.

"Well..." He says to himself.

"I started off with nothing and I still have most of it left." Usually he was so optimistic. Being caught in this Nexus just really. Cemented the realization. No doubt he'd find a way to be on top of the world again soon. He was always like that. Just keep going, no matter how bad things were. Just. Keep going.

Maybe it was avoidance, he wondered.

He'd rather not think about it, which kind of answered his question.

At least he could only go up from here...

"Hey! Jetfire! Where have you been!" Some mech calls to him, waving. Skyfire simply rests his face in his hands. The mech pauses, looks at his, squinting his optics.

"Oh. Sorry, buddy."

Never mind.

No matter how low you are, you can always start digging.

Name: Skyfire
Name of Canon: Transformers (G1 Cartoon continuity)
Canon/AU/Other Game CR: Other Game CR (Cape and Cowl)
Reference: The WIKI! also CAPE AND COWL RP
Canon Point: Post-movie. He just stops showing up in the show, however it is presumed he lives. And also taken after his leave from Cape and Cowl.
Setting: The G1 Transformers universe consists of mostly Earth and Cybertron. Earth is set in the "future" (which is now actually our past, but shh, it was the future in the 80's). Apparently not terribly different from the present, aside from the existence of the occasional hover-board and, oh yes, giant alien robots meandering around. Earth seems to have adapted to the presence of the Transformers and their war, though the humans often play a trivial role, if at all.

As for Cybertron, their world is in a state of disrepair, low on energy and torn by war for several million years. It's dangerous at best to venture there. There are Autobot strongholds as well as Decepticon ones, however there has not been much progress on either side as far as winning. The Cybertronian way of life before the war was actually very rich in culture and science. A bustling metropolis, of course the government was fairly corrupt. The beginning of the war, proper, actually, sparked by the once young revolutionary, Megatron. Skyfire hailed form this time, in fact. When Megatron was little more than an upstart, and the planet was still somewhat peaceful.

As far as the war, it began for many reasons, as mentioned before, the corrupt senate. Spying on each other, using their power for their own selfish reasons. Many chose to overlook it until it was too late. The energy crisis was another huge factor. Cybertronians, for all their advancements consume high amounts of energon. A once-plentiful resource that can be used to power just about anything. Cybertronians used it for consumptions, powering their machinery, even powering their entire planet. Naturally when sources began to run dry, it was nearly mass-panic. Even for Skyfire's time, while the main function of his job as an explorer was to study other life forms and the climates of new planets, he was to report if any planets with high amounts of the raw form of energon were discovered. Their need for the resource bled into everything, and when it became dire, the fighting began. While Megatron led his forces in opposition of the corrupt senate, he also preached conquest. If the Cybertronians were to survive as a species, they would need to conquer other civilizations, spread out over the galaxy. The Autobots, of course, couldn't let it happen. Freedom was the right of all sentient beings, after all. Despite their need for energy, they could not enslave other civilizations just to further their own species.

As irony would have it, the war simply made the state of their home world more and more desolate. Cybertronians scattered, for better or worse. Some still battled on Cybertron, others became roamers, and still the two main opposing forces were dropped onto Earth, where they slept for several million years.

Here is where we jump to the second setting in Skyfire's life;

The City (as seen in Cape and Cowl). Very much a city right out of a hero comic book, the city runs rampant with bad guys and outlandish criminals, though there is no shortage of heroes to go around. The problem is the A.I. "The Porter" that was transporting people from different universes in. It didn't matter if you were something else before, an animal, a robot, an alien- you were trapped in a human body. Though not without a small gift from The Porter- special powers. Sticking to the "super hero" theme, each ported resident developed their own unique set of powers if they didn't have any before. Often it had something to do with their personality or previous abilities.

From that point on, citizens could choose to use them however they pleased. Nobody could quite figure out the A.I.'s motives for these actions- why it brought the people it did. Some speculated that it was glitched or outright insane. Others thought there were more sinister plots underlying the seeming chaos and random chance that it appear to be. Either way, nobody was allowed to go home. Not to their own universe at least. Residents could leave the city, however. A sort of alternate-universe version of Manhattan, they could visit the rest of the world if they so pleased. Most of the locations remained the same as those of modern-day. The United States, other countries, landmarks were generally the same. Just slight differences.

The public had a very skewed view of the ported residents. Those with powers tended to cause a lot of chaos, and thus, were not received well by the natives. It was almost beginning to lean toward discrimination against the ported to the point where most of them had to hide their identities to blend in and be able to function as members of society, get jobs, not be heckled in public and so on.

In his previous time spent in singularity, he attempted to lay low, gain allies and look after his friend. He preferred to stay mostly out of the way as much as he could, and still look into finding a way out. Not an easy task, but he's used to trying to keep a low profile.

He prefers to avoid snowy weather at all costs to the point of holing up inside his own home and refusing to come out. It's a fear that stemmed from being locked under the ice for so long, being aware as he froze and went into stasis, only to wake up into a war. During his stay in The City, Skyfire declared himself a neutral party, no longer desiring any part in the war. Content to enjoy his studies and friends on either side of the war. He does however, struggle with his morals at time.

Overall, if he can get away with wrestling someone into submission, he'd rather do it that way. Because of his sheer size, it's not difficult to overpower someone without harming them.

From his life in the city he gained a strong sense of guilt, learning of what happened to his former friend, Starscream. He blamed himself heavily for what happened to him, and even what he became after he was entombed in ice. He often wondered if he has been awake for all that time if Starscream could have been saved from a life as a military grunt- as a murderer and a coward. He had hoped that he might have had some good influence on him. Try and undo the mistake that he ultimately bore onto his own shoulders and continues to carry.

Abilities and Weaknesses: Flight - he can fly great distances unaided at great speeds. However he does not have a very good turn radius.

Strength - He has strength proportionate to his size if he were still in his robotic body. He can lift heavy objects, carry people in flight etc. However the rest of his body still has human limits like temperature, fatigue, sickness and is not resistant to sharp objects.

Weaknesses - He has a crippling fear of large bodies of water, enclosed spaces and arctic conditions or extreme cold.

Inventory: 3 pens, 1 portable hard drive, 4 cans of sliced pineapple, 2 books, 1 lab coat, standard clothing, 1 long parka, pair of visor goggles, 1 handgun (no ammunition).

Appearance: The most noticeable trait about Skyfire is his sheer size. He stands at a hulking 7'4" tall with broad shoulders and is just generally a behemoth of a man. Naturally this is reminiscent of how large he was even compared to those of his own species. He's usually dressed in a lab coat, casual slacks, shirt and sneakers.

His hair is stark white with a short, very standard cut. He looks to be roughly in his mid to late twenties. possibly early thirties. Another notable feature are stark blues eyes, as close as they could possibly be to resembling LED blue. They're usually hidden behind a pair of red visor shades. Other than his size and the color of his hair and eyes, he looks like your regular human. He looks fairly approachable, like a lovable giant. Not exactly intimidating, especially when he usually has a loose smile plastered to his face and his nose in a book.

Here is one illustrated reference.

Age: Roughly over nine-million, if you count the time he spent under the ice.

Log Sample:

Entry was painful to say the least. One minute he was flying out of the city, running away from the war. From his responsibilities. From Starscream. There was an overwhelming sense of guilt that came along with it, and for one disorienting moment, all that guilt seemed to almost become external as a jagged piece of metal cut into his leg, another piece catching him in the opposite shoulder, sliding open the parka he so valued. His large mass hit the ground with a thick thud where he lay still, reeling for several minutes.

He shouldn't have left. Starscream would go insane again. Start hurting people. Sad that Skyfire already knew he was the only thing holding the Seeker's thin sanity to some sense of stability. And Soundwave... Waspinator... the rest of the Autobots. It seemed so foolish now. No doubt within a few hours flight he would just turn back and kick himself for ever considering leaving.

Now. Now he wasn't sure what was happening. He'd felt himself stretch... and then feeling of the metal cutting into him.

Standing up, or rather, stumbling to his feet and grasping his injured shoulder, he's only half aware when something greets him. All too pleasant for his current state of mind. He had no choice but to stumble through the motions.

It was not entirely unfamiliar, a process like this. He'd gone through it in The City as well. This, in a way was a bit less jarring, but only by a small degree. At least he was used to having a human body already. At least he wasn't vomiting. He counted his good fortune. Or something.

When he finally emerged from the process of the chemical showers he was feeling a little worse for the wear. At least his wounds had been taken care of. It did little for his bleary psyche, however. He only half-listened to the AI. He'd usually have been fascinated, but he was too distracted by his busy mind. Not so much concerned with where he was, or even how he'd come to be there... but how he was going to get back.

When he'd left this wasn't what he intended. Part of him wanted to blame the damned Porter, but his intuition told him he was into something much deeper than the petty games of a glitched computer program. He cast the hologram an almost apologetic look for having nearly ignored it completely... it then occurred to his exhausted mind that it didn't really matter. He could have kicked himself. Carefully he slid down to sit on the platform as it coasted along, tucking his knees to his chest and resting his chin on them.

This is all my fault.

He remembers that clearly, the uncertainty of the first time. It's like everything is stuck on repeat. There are only more doubts and worries.

Disorientation, but he could take a guess at what happened.

Keep a clear head. Because that's what a good scientist does. Now here he is on the same platform. He knows time has passed. A long time. Longer than he'd ever like (would he have liked any time at all?) This won't be like the last time.

He can still feel the tightness in his chest, though. The hologram beside him sounds like a distant song, overshadowed by the height of his thoughts. It seems so familiar, the way he slides down to sit again, just the same way. How he dips his head and rests his face in one hand. How the light here seems so hard against his face.

How miserable he feels. Perhaps more so right now. Just more guilt. What if they're all gone? What if he wasn't there for any of them? He's always made fast friends...It's always this hard for him.

He'll collect himself again before he has to face it again. Just breathe.

This is all my fault.
